Shilp Gram

Shilpgram is a traditional arts & crafts complex situated on the outskirts of Udaipur near Lake Fateh Sagar. The word “Shilpgram” means “Craft Village”. It is a live museum highlighting the lifestyle of folk & tribal people of various parts of India with special emphasis on Western Region comprising of states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli & Daman & Diu.

It provides a platform to showcase the art & culture, architecture, food, clothing, dance & music. The campus sprawled over 70 acres in the lap of Aravalis was developed under the patronage of West Zone Cultural Centre to promote local & regional artisans and increase awareness of traditional art & culture amongst the youth. Regular festivals, camps and workshops are organized to showcase & enrich the skills of artists and enable people to know about rich cultural heritage of India.

The complex is developed as a village with traditional huts built by various communities in the western region of India. The huts are decorated with household articles, handicraft items, paintings & sculptures of the respective region to provide a glimpse of traditional lifestyle. Various museums are built in the complex showcasing paintings, sculptures & items of rural & tribal life.

Crafts Bazar – “Haat” consists of various shops selling wide variety of items ranging from handloom, jewellery, pottery, house-hold items from different regions of India. Artists also give live demonstration of their art for tourists to get real experience and knowledge.
